Similac Baby Formula Recall

Abbott Laboratories Inc said it is voluntarily recalling millions of containers of its top-selling Similac powdered infant formulas after beetles were found in the products. This recall affects fewer than 5 million units of Similac are being sold in the United States, Guam, Puerto Rico and other Caribbean markets. The recalled products involve powdered Similac in plastic containers, and in 8-ounce, 12.4-ounce and 12.9-ounce cans.

Kids who have ingested the formula end up having some degree of tummy upsets, get cranky and refuse to take in the next feed………..I mean can you blame them???

If you want to be sure that your baby formula is affected by the recall, go to the below link to check:

Abbot industries

I think some countries in the Middle East are going to totally ban Similac in their countries, like Saudi Arabia. That’s good. In today’s Arab times, Abbot Industries released an advert informing people that their product does not affect the Middle East region. But I really wouldn’t blame parents should they decide to switch formulas…. I mean I would, if I had a child still on formula.

The decision is up to you.

H1N1 Vaccine

The swine flu vaccine is finally here , as read in the Arab Times on 1 & 2 November…………….and I guess a lot of parents are in a limbo as to whether to administer it to their kids or not. Personally, I would want to give it, but when I asked the hubby dearest, he didn’t seem too enthusiastic about it.

On 1 November 2009, I heard on the 6pm news on FM 99.7 while driving home, that the Kuwait Health Minister said that there are a few side effects such as rash around the vaccination site, possibly a slight temperature. I guess this is fine as there is another vaccine which we give the kids as a part of the regular immunization schedule that also gives the above symptoms…so what’s the fuss all about!!

The minister also apparently said that the vaccine is not compulsory, first preference will be given to the most vulnerable category – kids younger than 5, elderly , those suffering from other chronic illness , pregnant, etc.

But still am not sure if I would want to have it administered to my son as there is soooo much negative things going around about the vaccine… Even my own relatives are not keen on administering the vaccine to their kids…… I guess I will have to ask around a bit, before deciding to go ahead with the vaccination. So let’s take a poll

mothercare is on SALE!!!!

Saw it in the Arabtimes today…..hmmmmmm…even though it just upto 50% off, I will certainly pass by to pick up some winter pajama’s for my son.

I just went to the Salmiya Fashionway store on Friday and picked up some stuff….. My bill was almost KWD 40 for 1 set of pajamas, 1 cool looking winter jacket and a pair of track pants, all for my son and it cost us sooooooo much..Had I known about the sale, would have waited a few more days 😦 Anyways, must pass by for the winter jammies…with spider man, Ben10 and all those little boy’s fav action figures. My son is soooo fond of spider man that sometimes I think I gave birth to spider man not a little boy

Even NEXT is on sale, saw that in the paper too. They too have a good collection of toddler clothes. Should check that out as well!

Wishing all the moms out there happy shopping 🙂
