Shrek – Forever After – 3D

Couple of Saturday’s ago, I took my son, sister, friend and her son to watch Shrek – Forever After, the 3D version at Marina Mall, Salmiya and boy, was it a good movie.

I mean can donkey get anymore funnier 🙂 I could totally relate to the whole mid-life crisis that Shrek seemed to be going through.

Puss was so cute………even when he was incredibly fat…those eyes…awwwwww!

My son really enjoyed the 3D thing and must admit it is the first time I took him to see a 3D movie and it was good.

Can’t wait for the Toy Story 3 to release here in Kuwait…will certainly see it and update.

Back to School

Hi All! Have’nt posted much lately….been a little preoccupied with my son who will be going back to school after a realllly looooong 2 week break!

For that past 2 weeks, I have been handling him from work and also once I am home. Every day I had to find something different for him to do. I took him to a colleague’s house to spend one afternoon, then couple of times to run around in the airport ( as my dad was travelling), prepared Easter eggs, then numerous trips down the apartment building to play with the other kids……One day I even took the day off to take him, my dad and the maid off for breakfast and then to my sister’s house to play.

I must say I kinda enjoyed it all 🙂 I mean even though he is a handful and conversing becomes more exhausting due to so many questions and explanations, I enjoyed every minute of it 🙂 I guess when he is older, he wouldn’t want to spend time with me, so I’ll enjoy it now.

During one of our playtime sessions down the apartment building, I even got to know the girl who I think is now officially his first crush!!!! So sweeeettt! I wish all of you could have seen them together, how my son smiles when she is around and how he wants to play with her.. She also takes a lot of effort to focus on him, play the games he wants to play and basically showers him with attention! I think this is why he likes her! Took lots of photos that day of all them and then both of them………memories. I wonder how my son would feel if I showed him these photos when he is much older!!

Tomorrow, we are back to the same routine, yelling to properly brush those teeth and dressed for school……………to eat a wholesome breakfast after that……..trying to get him to finish drinking milk while I am in my room trying to be presentably dressed for work. Need all the luck I can get for all this and then beat traffic getting to work…

At the same time, LUCK to all the other moms who from tomorrow will be in the same boat as me…I also hope you had some great moments with your kids these holidays…got to see a different side of them..

Enjoy!

Note: need to make sure we have enough bread, sandwich making ingredients and juice for school lunch’s. No more late nights…early bed time starts today

Happy Birthday Overdose!!!

We just got through 3 B’day celebrations for my son……an overdose for sure……but my son absolutely enjoyed!!!

This year the cartoon character of the moment was Ben 10……so that’s 3 different cakes with Ben 10 on them. On 11th he had a small party at school, then in the evening, he had one at a another gathering and one later at home with immediate family.

Today was with the whole jing-bang lot – family, friends and colleagues at Pizza Hut, Salmiya. Actually the package was quite reasonable.

We opted for the KWD 70 package which basically covers everything, as follows:

  • 2 hour celebration
  • nice big cake, enough for about 30 people
  • 15 kids with kid’s meal
  • 4-5 games, with prizes
  • goody bag toy at the end for each kid
  • 4 large pizzas for 10 adults
  • Face painting
  • Video coverage for 2 hours on an SD card, which they will give it to you at the end of the party
  • pretty decent decoration on the premises, with balloons,  Happy Birthday board.

As we had more people, we just ordered more family meals and everything was sooooooooooo great. We just had to show up and all was taken care of….now that’s what I call enjoyment!!

Well, 5th Birthday…taken care off…Thank God we have 1 whole year to rest!! Gosh I am so tired!!

Post pregnancy weight loss….4 years late!

When I was pregnant with my son, over 4 years ago, I put on a seriously unhealthy amount of weight.. I guess that as it was our first pregnancy, I overdid it on the ‘eating for two’ bit 😦

I am glad to say that since April 2009, after a lot of reading and failed attempts, I took my first steps (literally) towards loosing the weight and trying to get back to my size “10” outfits. I first started walking round the block at 5am in the morning, since trying to make time for myself is a serious challenge. After a couple of weeks or so, I increased the pace and started climbing stairs after the walk. Later, when I felt my body needed a more serious push, I enrolled for aerobics classes at Mabrour – Salmiya. By gradually increasing my pace, I was able to stay with the program and not quit. So now after 6 months of diet and… Oh! I hate the word “DIET”, let’s say, after 6 months of implementing my lifestyle change initiatives (ha ha ) and my exercise program, I have lost 7 kilos and 2 dress sizes. Yipee!! Even though I am now a size 12 and not a size 10 yet, I am certainly getting there…few more steps to being a yummy mummy!! Ha Ha Ha!

I wanted to address post pregnancy weight loss in my blog coz I do feel that once we become mom’s, looking after ourselves takes the back seat…we always worry about our kids eating well and being healthy, but not ourselves.

It took me 4 years to really get to this point where I have done something about my weight. I hope that by making an entry about weight issues in my blog, a lot of moms, either new or “moms for quite some time” would be encouraged to do something about weight issues.

I do miss the breakfast croissants, doughnuts, cakes, stuffed crust pizza, lunch with the office gang almost on a daily basis, extra half hour of sleep in the mornings, but then it was worth it. It feels soooo good to be able to fit into good looking clothes again :-)…yes! I am a shopaholic..but no regrets!!

mothercare is on SALE!!!!

Saw it in the Arabtimes today…..hmmmmmm…even though it just upto 50% off, I will certainly pass by to pick up some winter pajama’s for my son.

mothercare

I just went to the Salmiya Fashionway store on Friday and picked up some stuff….. My bill was almost KWD 40 for 1 set of pajamas, 1 cool looking winter jacket and a pair of track pants, all for my son and it cost us sooooooo much..Had I known about the sale, would have waited a few more days 😦 Anyways, must pass by for the winter jammies…with spider man, Ben10 and all those little boy’s fav action figures. My son is soooo fond of spider man that sometimes I think I gave birth to spider man not a little boy

spiderman jammies

Even NEXT is on sale, saw that in the paper too. They too have a good collection of toddler clothes. Should check that out as well!

Wishing all the moms out there happy shopping 🙂
